Position Description:(primary functions)
We are seeking enthusiastic and responsible individuals to join our team as Summer Academy Academic Tutors/Residence Chaperones for the Upward Bound Summer Program. This role involves providing academic support to program participants as well as assisting in the supervision of students during the residential phase of Summer Academy.
Minimum Requirements:
- College-enrolled students preferred; Earned college credits in related fields preferred.
- Previous experience tutoring in core subjects, preferably with youth from diverse backgrounds.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to effectively engage and motivate students.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport with program participants and staff.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team, contributing to a collaborative and supportive work environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Tutor Upward Bound participants in core subjects, providing assistance with homework, assignments, and exam preparation.
- Accompany Upward Bound staff during field trips, ensuring the safety and well-being of participants.
- Assist in the supervision of participants in residence halls overnight during the residential summer program, maintaining a supportive and inclusive environment.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to students, fostering a positive and enriching experience.
- Collaborate with program staff to address the individual needs and interests of participants, promoting academic success and personal growth.
